What kind of monster takes this to a junkyard? How unaware do you have to be to think $300 is the most you can get for this? It had clearly been well taken care of. It already had sold written on the window so it shall be saved.

Ah, a Cressida. I’ve seen a few of these go through this yard before. Never seen one on the streets.

In all my years of junkyarding, I’ve seen a total of 1 M car. It was a ~97 M3 convertible with an auto.

They had an early 80s that was pretty stripped.

Me too, this is the first one. I’ve seen one AMG too, a C36.

I’ve seen a C36 before, but that was after a Benz specialty place closed and all their parts cars got hauled off to the junkyard. That was in ~2010.

Ah a Neon Expresso, I recognize the oh so 90s upholstery, my brother had one nearly new. He was incredibly happy when it got t-boned by an old Cadillac that ran a red light, and he was able to get away from it.

I wonder about the back story on the 123 coupe as well. Almost looks like they washed it before sending it off, wheels look good. Lots of parts value in it at the least.

Cressida is a good example of a car I like that attracts a demographic I don’t like.

Poor baby. I never see a Mk1 in any junkyards near me. They only ever die in one of two ways- rust (because people are afraid of welding), and wrecks. They don’t really make it to the junkyard regularly from wrecks because they get parted out and the shell gets scrapped usually. I’ve seen a total of one Mk1 in a junkyard. It was a Digifant Cabriolet. I like to poke around cars and figure out what took them to the junkyard- I had no idea what was wrong with this one. I found no rust or structural damage. I guess it must have been mechanical. It was automatic, and the autos in Mk1s aren’t known for being particularly robust. Oh well. I snagged a number of parts from it to support my Cabriolet and to sell on eBay and said goodbye.

I see a few every year, usually in pretty nice shape. I almost didn’t even bother taking a picture. They get picked to the bones pretty quick.

Benz was saved before I got there, just waiting to get picked up. Desirable cars that they can sell usually find a home.

The Benz was a diesel as well. I’m assuming the junkyard washed it and aired up the tires to sell it. You could tell the tires had some flat spots, probably had been sitting for many years.

Cressidas are strange. I always forget they exist and then think they are an import until I look them up on wiki again. Still have never seen one not in a junkyard.

I’m surprised you see so many. The one I saw was pretty much stripped by the time I got to it, two days after it got to the yard.

It almost looks like a little rust might exist on the far front rocker/fender base, but hard to tell. Still, if the wheels are as nice as they look, they alone are worth the scrap payout of the car.

Shitheel driftbros are not easy on cars, and are working as hard as they can to ensure genuinely nice (no, that lowered and stanced fartcanned mess is not nice) Cressidas become unicorns.

Nice finds!

The other day I saw a Volvo C70 with the Propus-C wheels (BBS 17x7.5" 2 piece) show up on the website of a yard about an hour away. I may take a drive up there Saturday and hope they haven’t been snatched up yet. Even if they have been, I need a few other Volvo and Cruze bits.

This yard always pulls the wheels if they can have a whole set . So you have to specifically ask if they have them in the back some where. I have seen very few Cruzes ever in any of these yards.

Those wheels look really nice. I have been looking for a 14" 4 lug bmw wheel for about 2 months now, still can’t find one.

Seems like every yard has a different method. The yard(s) I mainly go to are LKQ PYP yards and they seem to specialize in cars that are between 10 and 20 years old . LKQ is a big parts recycler so all the late model stuff goes to their warehouses to be stripped.

There’s another yard that has an interesting method - they have a main yard and a late model yard. Anyone can go walk and pull parts in the main yard, but all the late model stuff is in a special fenced in area and you have to get permission to go pull parts in there.
